BIO 

Ana Schmukler nació en 1983 en Córdoba, Argentina. Vive en Buenos Aires desde el 2004, ciudad en la que estudió y desarrolla su trabajo en teatro, cine y festivales artísticos. Actriz y directora.

Los aspectos caóticos de la creación, el amor, los vínculos creativos y lo aleatorio son intereses a explorar en toda su obra, ya sea en escena, escrita o visual.

Licenciada en actuación del departamento de artes dramáticas de la Universidad Nacional de las Artes (UNA), recibió la máxima calificación en su tesina Lo caótico en la creación teatral. Entre sus docentes más destacados se encuentran Ciro Zorzoli, Guillermo Cacace, Marcelo Savignone y Andrea Garrote.

Como actriz entre sus últimos trabajos en teatro se destacan: Y las arañas de Marte (unipersonal también escrito y dirigido por ella), Donde cae queda, Dios está en la casa, En realidad (ambas en la Bienal de Arte Joven 2015) y Dóciles y útiles (FIBA 2010).

Dirigió su primer obra en 2015, Entre esa gente que baila, y estrenó en 2021 su unipersonal Y las arañas de Marte (temporadas ´21/ ´22), un proyecto sumamente personal donde se convierte en Ziggy Stardust, el famoso alien glam de Bowie, para compartir algunas

Como asistente de dirección ha trabajado en varias obras, destacándose Las Oceánicas (2022), con dirección de Manuela Méndez y Un canario (dirigida por Miguel Israelevich y participante de la Bienal Arte Joven ´15). Siempre disfruta ser parte de equipos creativos, colaborando también en varias obras y películas dentro del área de vestuario y arte.

Su interés por el cine y la fotografía se refleja en su trabajo, participando en muchos cortometrajes como actriz, destacándose El espesor de lo visible de Mercedes Arias (ganador concurso Historias Breves- INCAA). Además ha hecho fotografía para obras de teatro y danza, así como también portafolios para actorxs.

La escritura y los formatos visuales (dibujo y fotografía) siempre estuvieron presentes en sus obra, relacionándose de manera fluida en los procesos creativos que encara.

Además, trabaja en los departamentos de producción artística de importantes festivales (Festival Internacional de Cine de Mar del Plata, BAFICI, Bienal de Arte Jóven) y como traductora de inglés/español de textos cinematográficos y teatrales; pudiendo desarrollar un diálogo entre el campo teatral, el del cine y lo específico de la gestión cultural.

Actualmente está ensayando como asistente de dirección la obra La Yoli Mindolacio, a estrenarse en la segunda mitad de 2023; hará una segunda temporada de Donde cae queda en abril y mayo, y planea una nueva temporada de Y las arañas de Marte.

The chaotic aspects of creation, love, collective bonds and randomness are key interests in her creative work, either its performative, written or visual.

She has a bachelor´s degree in Acting from the National Drama School, with the maximum qualification in her final investigation project: The chaotic aspects in theatrical creation.

As an actress,her latest work in theatre includes: And the spiders from Mars (written and directed by her), It stays where it lands, God is in the house, In fact and Docile and useful.

She directed her first play Between those who dance (seasons 2015/2016), and in 2021 she premiered And the spiders from Mars, a very personal performative project where she becomes Ziggy Stardust (Bowie's famous glam-alien) hoping to share with the audience some questions about love, loneliness, the pursuit for success and the existence of something bigger that surrounds us.

She enjoys being a part of creative teams in different roles, mostly as an assistant director in several plays (The Ocean girls, A canary), but also in wardrobe and art departments for theatre and film.

With her plays, she was selected to participate in the International Buenos Aires Theatre Festival (FIBA) and in the Young Arts Biennale (Buenos Aires).

Her interest in cinema and photography reflects in her work, participating in many short-films as an actress (the last one was The Thickness of the visible, awarded by the National Film Institute), and also as a photographer for plays and artists´ portfolios.

The written word as well as visual formats (photography+drawing) have always been present in her work in a fluid way.

She works in the artistic production departments for important festivals (Mar del Plata International Film Festival, Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival, Young Arts Biennale), and as an English translator for film/theatre; being able to develop a dialogue between theatre, cinema and the specifics in production.

Nowadays, she´s rehearsing a play called La Yoli Mindolacio as a part of the directing team; and performing the second season for It stays where it lands confirmed for April and May, and planning a 3rd season of And the spiders from Mars.
